Moreno Valley, California (June 4, 2021) – The authorities have arrested a woman suspected to have caused a traffic collision that killed Logan Edwards, 17, of Winchester in Moreno Valley on May 26.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Shady Pillar Torres, 25, of Moreno Valley, was arrested on Wednesday, June 3.

Deputies said Torres was driving a white 2014 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Bay Avenue at a high rate of speed when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into Edwards’ 2012 Ford Edge.

The impact pushed the Ford off the side of the road and it slammed into a fence.

Edwards died at the scene of the collision.

Torres suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Riverside University Medical Center.

Deputies said Torres was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Riverside’s Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of second-degree murder, child endangerment, and committing a felony crime while out on bail for another case.
