La Jolla, California (July 27, 2019) – The worker who was killed in an accident that occurred at a construction site in La Jolla on Thursday morning has been identified as Sergio Cruz, 32, according to Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash took place just before 8:30 a.m. July 25, at the UC San Diego campus.

Authorities said a rebar wall frame at the construction site collapsed onto Cruz and three other Clark Construction workers.

Sergio Cruz Killed in UC San Diego Work Accident

The victims were rushed to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where Cruz was pronounced deceased. The other victims were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Cal/OSHA is conducting an investigation into the incident.
