Santa Maria, California (July 12, 2021) – One person died after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver in north Santa Maria late Saturday night, the Santa Maria Police said.

The fatal pedestrian crash happened at about 11:20 p.m., on July 10, in the 500 block of North Broadway.

An individual was reportedly struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene after the accident.

Sadly, the unidentified victim died in the collision.

The crash resulted in the closure of a section of North Broadway for an unknown time.

Authorities are gathering more evidence to locate the hit-and-run suspect.
