Person Killed in Santa Cruz Pedestrian Accident on Highway 1 near 41st Avenue

Santa Cruz, California (January 1, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near the Capitol city limits in Santa Cruz County on Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 5:48 p.m. December 31 on Highway 1 east of 41st Avenue.
CHP said the pedestrian died after being hit by a car. Details on how the accident happened were not immediately available.
The identities of those involved in the accident were not immediately released.
The crash caused a closure of all northbound lanes of Highway 1 for approximately three hours as the scene was examined and cleared.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
