Rider Sustains Major Injuries in Santa Barbara Crash on Highway 101 near Ortega Hill Road On-Ramp

Santa Barbara, California (July 8, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Santa Barbara crash that happened Thursday morning, leaving a motorcyclist with serious injuries.
The California Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred at around 8:53 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 near Ortega Hill Road on-ramp.
As per the CHP report, a rider on a black Harley-Davidson struck the rear of a tan Acura RDX for unknown reasons.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike, flew up, and landed between the road barriers.
Caltrans and firefighters responded to the scene to find the motorcyclist with major injuries. An ambulance was requested to take the victim to the hospital.
Some traffic lanes remained closed as authorities investigated.
