Santa Ana, California (February 7, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Wednesday night in Santa Ana, a local news source reported.

According to the article, the accident took place at around 9:05 p.m. near the 1100 block of Walnut Street, south of East First Street, between the Fullerton and Santa Ana stations.

The victim, whose age, gender and name were not disclosed, was struck by Amtrak Train A591 under unknown circumstances.

As per Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the accident, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner traffic was temporarily closed. Additionally, two trains on Metrolink’s Orange County Line – Train 644 which operates from Fullerton to Oceanside, and Train 645 which operates from Laguna Niguel to Fullerton, were cancelled.

Authorities are investigating the accident.
