San Jose, California (January 5, 2021) – The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has released the name of the San Jose girl who died following a pedestrian accident in San Jose on Thursday, December 31.

Officials responded to the deadly crash site at about 11:15 a.m. near Santee and McQuesten drives behind Santee Elementary School.

9-year-old Layla Marie Lemas was riding an electric bike when a 2017 GMC Sierra truck struck her while entering the driveway of an apartment complex.

Layla Lemas Fatal San Jose Pedestrian Accident

Lemas died at an area hospital where she was admitted after the accident.

Police affirmed the involved motorist had not been cited or arrested.
