San Jose, CA: Fatal Street Racing Accident on Calahan and Dailey Avenues
1 Killed, 2 Injured in Suspected Street Racing San Jose Crash on Calahan and Dailey Avenues
San Jose, California (May 18, 2019) – One person was killed and two others injured in a collision suspected to have been caused by a street racing incident on Thursday evening in San Jose, according to the San Jose police.
The crash occurred at about 5:50 p.m. May 16, on Calahan and Dailey avenues.
Police said a 29-year-old man was riding a Honda CBR motorcycle southbound on Calahan Avenue at a high rate of speed when he slammed into a Nissan Altima that was making a left turn from Dailey Avenue.
Motorcyclist Killed, 2 Injured in San Jose Crash
The rider was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The two occupants of the Nissan were taken to a hospital and were expected to survive.
Police said the rider had been involved in a street racing with another motorcyclist prior to the collision. The other rider, identified as Blake Kampfen, 30, of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of participating in a speed contest.
The crash remained under investigation.
