San Diego, California (April 26, 2020) – One person died, and two others were injured in a fiery traffic accident that happened in the area of San Diego Sunday morning, according to authorities.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Interstate 15 near Interstate 8.
The accident involved a 2016 Kia Optima driven by a 26-year-old woman from Spring Valley and a 1999 Lincoln Town Car operated by a San Diego woman at a low rate of speed.
The primary report indicated that both vehicles were traveling southbound on the roadway when the Kia slammed into the rear of the Lincoln for unknown reasons.
Due to the impact, the Lincoln burst into flames, and its occupants were pinned inside.
Officials said Passersby extricated a passenger trapped in the Lincoln.

The San Diego woman died in the accident while her passenger suffered significant burns as a result of the crash.
The Kia motorist was taken to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Detectives believed alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The wreck resulted in the closure of three right lanes of southbound Interstate 15 as investigation and clean-up took place.
