Rider Dies in San Diego Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 5 Freeway near Balboa Avenue
San Diego, California (March 20, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening in a traffic accident in San Diego, according to a local news source.
The California Highway Patrol said the deadly crash happened at around 5:43 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 Freeway near the Mission Bay Gold Course and just south of Balboa Avenue.
According to the CHP, the motorcyclist reportedly crashed on the northbound side of the freeway. It was not immediately known whether another vehicle was involved.
Deadly Motorcycle Accident on I-5 Freeway in San Diego
First responders arrived at the scene and found the rider lying on the right-hand shoulder. The bike was down in the far right lane.
The motorcyclist, whose name has not been disclosed pending notification of family, died in the accident.
Two lanes of the freeway were closed due to the accident. As of 6:30 p.m., the roadway was reopened.
No further details about the accident were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
