Man Killed in Five Points Pedestrian Accident on Noell Street near West Washington Street Station
San Diego, California (January 29, 2021) – A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train Thursday afternoon in the Five Points area, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident happened just after noon on Thursday, January 28, on Noell Street near West Washington Street Station.
Police said the train was traveling southbound when the engineer saw the pedestrian walking toward the tracks. The engineer sounded the emergency horns and attempted to stop the train but was unsuccessful and hit the man.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Rail-service was delayed for more than two hours due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
