3 Injured in San Diego Car Crash at I-5 and I-8 in San Diego

San Diego, California (February 7, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday morning in the area of San Diego.
The collision occurred at around 11:30 a.m. February 6, on southbound Interstate 5 at the junction of Interstate 8.
As per the CHP officials, at least three cars crashed for reasons still under investigation. A witness told officials that a back car flew from eastbound 8 Freeway before it collided with southbound 5 Freeway vehicles.
Multiple Cars Crash on 5 Freeway in San Diego
Firefighters along with medical personnel responded to the scene. Three persons were extricated from their cars and transported to the hospital. Two of the victims sustained severe injuries in the collision.
Authorities said at least two of the injured parties were wearing military uniforms at the time.
One of the SUVs involved was reported to have government plates.
Officials closed sections of the highway following the collision. The roadway was cleared as of 3:15 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing.
