San Diego, California (August 24, 2019) – A scooter rider was hospitalized with major injuries after colliding with a vehicle on Friday evening in Grantville, according to San Diego police.

The incident took place at about 7:55 p.m. August 23, in the 6500 block of Mission Gorge Road.

Police said a 48-year-old man was riding a motorized GT bike when he tried to cross the street and crashed into a gray 2014 Subaru traveling northbound.

The rider sustained major blunt force trauma and was rushed to a hospital.

Police said alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The police are investigating the incident.
