Salinas, California (December 8, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday evening motorcycle accident that killed a 30-year-old Salinas man in Salinas.

The deadly accident happened at about 8:45 p.m., on December 6, on Highway 101 near the Boronda Road on-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the 30-year-old motorcyclist passed a 2016 Honda CRV SUV and switched to the right lane.

Unfortunately, the rider lost control of his 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle and overturned. The motorcycle landed in the center divider while the rider was ejected into the northbound lanes of Highway 101, the officials said.

The Honda CRV’s driver reportedly slammed on the brakes but still ran over the motorcyclist.

Motorcyclist Killed in Highway 101 Crash

Sadly, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not clear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.

Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
