Solano County, California (December 29, 2020) – A woman was killed and two other people were injured Friday night in a traffic accident in Solano County, according to a local news source.

The deadly Christmas Night collision happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Interstate Highway 80 near Travis Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic had exited the Travis Boulevard onramp and entered eastbound Interstate 80 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled across all eastbound lanes.

The Honda then slammed into a concrete center median and came to a stop in the fast lane. Moments later, a Lexus traveling in the eastbound fast lane crashed into the Honda.

A passenger in the rear seat of the Lexus, a 62-year-old Sacramento woman, was transported to Northbay Medical Center in Fairfield, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The Lexus driver, a 33-year-old Irvine man, was also taken to Northbay Medical Center in Fairfield with minor injuries. The driver of the Honda, a 20-year-old Fairfield man, had minor injuries.

Authorities said the road was wet from the rain at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
