Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash on I-40 in San Bernardino County

San Bernardino County, California (December 28, 2020) – A man was killed Sunday night in a single-vehicle traffic accident in unincorporated San Bernardino County, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash was reported at about 9:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, in the westbound lane of Interstate 40 near milepost marker 40 SBD 70.5, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said a 1988 Toyota pickup truck, driven by a 58-year-old man from Fort Mohave, Arizona, was heading westbound on Interstate 40 at unspecified speed when, for unknown reasons, it drifted off the roadway and went up a dirt embankment.

The Toyota then rolled over.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of family.

Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the CHP at 760-255-5900.
