Sacramento, CA: Truck Driver Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 50

Sacramento, California (May 5, 2020) – Two people were injured, one seriously in a wrong-way traffic collision on Monday morning in Sacramento, according to police.

At about 2:30 a.m., on May 4, the police responded to the crash in the westbound lanes of Highway 50 near Howe Avenue.

As per the authorities’ reports, a white Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 50 when it collided with a truck carrying scrap metal and concrete.

Due to the crash impact, the truck’s trailer reportedly flipped over the center divider onto the eastbound side of the freeway. Its load was spilled across the eastbound lanes while the diesel fuel was spilled across the westbound lanes.

The truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Davvonae Brown of Stockton, who was the Nissan driver, was hospitalized with major injuries.

Brown was suspected of driving the wrong way under the influence.

Following the accident, the roadway was closed, and as of 8:41 a.m., it was completely opened.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
