Sacramento, California (February 26, 2020) – According to a local news source, a pedestrian was struck and critically hurt by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in south Sacramento.

Police said the major injury collision was reported at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the area of Mack Road and Valley Hi Drive, near Highway 99.

According to authorities, an unidentified pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near the intersection for reasons still under an active investigation.

The operator of the vehicle involved remained at the crash site after hitting the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was found laying in the roadway by medical personnel along with fire department officials who responded at the scene shortly after the wreck.

Pedestrian Critically Hurt in Sacramento Pedestrian Crash 

The victim was confirmed to have sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. The unidentified patient was transported to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition.

The crash resulted in the closure of Mack Road from Center Parkway to Valley Hi Drive for several hours.

The detectives handling the case are gathering more evidence to identify the cause of the accident.
