Serious Injuries Reported in Sacramento Car and Train Accident at Elder Creek Road

Sacramento, California (February 8, 2020) – Authorities are investigating the cause of a traffic accident that happened in the area of south Sacramento on February 7.
The major injury crash involving a white Ford van and a Union Pacific Train took place early on Friday morning at the Elder Creek Road train crossing.
The initial report showed that the train struck the Ford on the tracks at approximately 2:45 a.m.
Due to the impact of the collision, the van was pushed several hundred feet down the tracks and went down an embankment. The Van driver was then trapped inside the car after the accident.
Driver Seriously Injured after Car Struck by Train in Sacramento
The pinned motorist was extricated from the wreckage by emergency crews who responded to the scene shortly after the wreck. The victim was hospitalized at an area hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the Florin Road was closed down to the south for an unknown time.
The investigation is underway.
