Sacramento, CA: Bicyclist Hit, Critically Injured by Alleged DUI Driver on American River Parkway
Rider Hospitalized after Sacramento Bicycle Accident on American River Parkway

Sacramento, California (June 30, 2021) – A bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a suspected drunken driver Tuesday morning in Sacramento, according to police.
Police said the accident occurred at about 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29 on the American River Parkway.
A vehicle reportedly drove through the trail gates and entered the bike path just off of Tribute Road. The vehicle then rammed into a group of cyclists.

One of the bicyclists, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The man driving the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Authorities later determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
The driver was ultimately arrested and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of DUI.
The Sacramento Police Department Major Collisions Investigations Unit is investigating the crash.
