Robert Ellis ID’d as Pilot Killed in Fiery Fullerton Plane Crash on W Commonwealth Avenue

Fullerton, California (April 19, 2019) – The pilot was who was killed in a fiery plane crash that occurred Thursday night in Fullerton has been identified as Robert Ellis, 48, according to a local news source.
The deadly crash happened at about 7:50 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at the Fullerton Municipal Airport, at 4011 West Commonwealth.
Authorities said Ellis was taking off at the Fullerton Municipal Airport when his Beechcraft Duke crashed near Runway 24. The twin-engine plane then burst into flames.

Ellis, who was believed to be the sole occupant, was declared dead at the scene. According to his mother, Ellis was a Southern California native and dentist who recently moved to Utah and commuted between the two states.
