The deadly wreck happened shortly before 5:10 a.m. on Interstate 8 near the Pine Valley Creek Bridge and involved four vehicles.
The CHP said a Chevy pickup truck was traveling on the westbound side of Interstate 8 when it spun out on the icy roadway and slammed into the Pine Valley bridge’s railing.

The other victims involved in the collision, including a 4-month-old infant, all sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. But one patient was taken to a hospital for further aid.
Conditions on the bridge at the time of the accident were foggy, icy and snowy, the CHP said.
Further details were not immediately available, and the crash remains under investigation.
