Oakland, California (November 28, 2020) – Roandy Samayoa Calderon, 16, of San Pablo, has been identified as the boy who was killed in a big rig accident on Friday morning in Oakland, the CHP said.

The deadly accident happened at about 12:49 a.m., on November 27, in the middle lanes of northbound Interstate Highway 880 near Market Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a big rig crashed into a Toyota Celica on the roadway in unclear circumstances.

Calderon sustained fatal injuries in the accident. It was not clear if Calderon was inside the car when the big rig hit it or if he was outside his vehicle.

The driver of the big rig, who stopped after the accident, was not injured.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the mishap.

An investigation into the collision is underway.
