Rio Linda, California (August 4, 2020) – A 50-year-old man was killed and several others injured in a suspected DUI crash involving multiple vehicles on Monday night in Rio Linda, authorities said.

Shortly before midnight on August 3, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly accident on Elkhorn Boulevard.

The CHP said a grey Toyota Corolla, driven by Amardeep Singh, 29, was driving westbound on Elkhorn Boulevard behind a white Audi Sedan when it collided head-on with a white Dodge Van, driven by the 50-year-old man.

Singh’s Corolla then struck the Audi Sedan and a white Toyota Tundra that was driving behind the Dodge, the officials said.

The 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Singh was transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center for treatment in unknown condition.

Singh was then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Singh was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for driving under the influence, causing bodily injury or death with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or higher and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
