Richard Gutierrez in Wheelchair Dies After Being Struck By Pickup Truck at Jardine Street and South Atlantic Boulevard in Commerce
Commerce, California (September 15, 2019) – 54-year-old Richard Gutierrez has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a pickup truck in Commerce on Saturday morning, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department report.
The fatal collision happened at about 7:43 a.m. September 14, in a crosswalk in the area of South Atlantic Boulevard and Jardine Street.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Gutierrez was struck by a large pickup truck on the roadway for unknown reasons. Due to the impact, Gutierrez’s wheelchair was pinned under the front of the pickup truck.

Gutierrez was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver stopped after the crash and cooperated with the officials’ investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department investigators believe that drugs or alcohol were not a factor at the time of the collision.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
