Tuolumne County, California (March 23, 2021) – Richard Alvarez, 69, of Modesto, was injured Monday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in Tuolumne County, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The crash occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, on Chicken Ranch Road,  just north of the Chicken Ranch Casino.

According to the CHP report, a 2005 Mercedes sedan was heading northbound on Chicken Ranch Road at a high rate of speed when it veered to the right side of the roadway and went up an embankment.

The Mercedes then rolled onto the passenger side of a 2001 Mercedes.

Alvarez, who was a passenger in the 2001 Mercedes, sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The driver of the 2005 Mercedes, Albert Roman III, 20 of Oakdale, and his two passengers, Nathaniel Stetson, 19, of Ceres, and a 16-year-old Oakdale girl, fled the scene after the collision.

According to the CHP, Roman was located on a nearby property while Stetson and the 16-year-old were found near the scene of the crash.

Roman was arrested and booked into Tuolumne County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run, causing bodily injury.

Stetson was also arrested and taken to Tuolumne County Jail on suspicion of delaying the duties of a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.

No further details about the accident were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
