Santa Clara, California (January 8, 2019) – A man who was hit by a vehicle last month in Santa Clara has succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Santa Clara Police Department, the crash happened at about 8:05 p.m. December 28 on the Central Expressway, just west of De La Cruz Boulevard.

Police said Regessa Ayle Walkeba, 65, of San Jose, was walking outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle.

Walkeba was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Friday, January 4.

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The Santa Clara police are investigating the incident.
