Redding, California (January 14, 2019 – A bicyclist was killed after a traffic collision Sunday afternoon in the area of Redding, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at around 1:18 p.m. Sunday, January 13, on Highway 273, about a quarter-mile south of Happy Valley Road.

As per the report, a 65-year-old Anderson man was riding a bicycle south on Highway 273 when for reasons still under investigation he was hit by a 2002 Ford Expedition traveling in the No.2 lane.

Emergency crews along with paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed the rider dead as a result of the collision. The victim’s name remained unknown awaiting notification of next of kin.

The 56-year-old Anderson woman driving the Ford reportedly appeared to have stopped after the accident.
