Redding, CA: Big Rig Crash on Highway 299 near Whiskeytown Lake
1 Seriously Injured in Redding Crash on Highway 299 near Trinity Mountain Boulevard

Redding, California (May 30, 2019) – One person was seriously injured Thursday morning in a traffic accident involving a big rig west of Redding, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Highway 299, just west of Whiskeytown Lake near Trinity Mountain Boulevard.
The CHP said a Subaru was heading westbound on Highway 299 when for an unknown reason it drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with a logging truck that was traveling eastbound.
The force of the impact caused the logging truck to veer off the road and down the hill toward the creek.

The Subaru driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. The name and condition of the victim at this time were not disclosed.
The driver of the logging truck was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders.
The crash remains under investigation.
