Raymond Wallace Killed in Salida Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
Salida, California (April 5, 2021) – The 60-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Salida has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Raymond Wallace of Grover Beach, San Luis Obispo County.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 2:25 a.m., on April 3, on Highway 99 north of Kiernan Avenue in Modesto.
A 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by 23-year-old Daisy Ojeda of Modesto southbound on the roadway struck Wallace while walking in the far-right lane of southbound Highway 99.
Raymond Wallace Fatal Salida Accident
Raymond was declared dead at the scene after being hit by a 2021 Freightliner driven by 59-year-old Juel Alston of Stockton and a 2006 Toyota.
Ojeda was rushed to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both the Alston and the Toyota operator, 47-year-old Richard Woodard of Modesto, were not injured in the mishap.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident.
