Rayland Elzy ID’d as UPS Driver Killed in Tulare County Truck Accident on Avenue 120 near Highway 99
Tulare County, California (February 7, 2021) – Authorities have identified the UPS driver who died Friday afternoon in a traffic accident at an intersection in Tulare County as Rayland Elzy, 25, of Visalia.
The deadly crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 5 on Avenue 120, just west of Highway 99 near Pixley, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, a tractor-trailer commercial truck and a UPS truck were heading eastbound when the tractor-trailer tried to pass the UPS truck. For undetermined reasons, the tractor-trailer struck the UPS truck.
After the impact, Elzy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected onto the roadway and hit by the tractor-trailer.
Deadly Accident on Avenue 120 in Tulare County
Elzy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer stopped at the scene after the crash. Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
