5-Year-Old Child and Mother Injured in Indio Crash at Indio Boulevard and Fred Waring Drive

Indio, California (February 7, 2021) – A 5-year-old boy and his mother were injured in a Thursday afternoon traffic accident in Indio, authorities said.
The accident happened at about 4:40 p.m., on February 4, at the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Fred Waring Drive.
According to the police, a black Toyota Highlander collided with a red Toyota Camry at the intersection in unclear circumstances.
First responders arrived at the scene and extricated the woman and the boy. They were in the Toyota Camry, the officials said.

The boy was airlifted to Riverside, where he was placed on a ventilator. The boy needed a blood transfusion and had multiple fractures in his spine and shoulder.
The mother was also hospitalized for treatment.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene and is being sought by the police. He was described as a man wearing all black.
