Rider Seriously Injured in Rancho San Diego Bicycle Accident at Willow Glen Drive and Hillsdale Road
Rancho San Diego, California (May 24, 2021) – A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon near the Cottonwood Two County Park in Rancho San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The major injury bicycle collision was reported just after 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, near the intersection of Willow Glen Drive and Hillsdale Road, the CHP said.
The bicyclist was hit by a vehicle for undetermined reasons in the area, according to the CHP.
Major Injury Bicycle Crash in Rancho San Diego
The bicycle rider sustained major injuries and was transported by emergency responders to the Sharp Memorial Hospital. The name and current condition of the patient were not available.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at or fled the scene.
The intersection of Willow Glen Drive and Hillsdale Road was closed following the wreck.
The accident remains under investigation.
