Rancho Mirage, CA: Major Injury Motorcycle Accident on Highway 111
Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Rancho Mirage Crash on Highway 111 and Thunderbird Road

Rancho Mirage, California (December 6, 2020) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday night in a traffic accident at an intersection in Rancho Mirage, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
The major injury collision happened at around 7:44 p.m. Friday, December 4, at the intersection of Highway 111 and Thunderbird Road.
As per the release, a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle was speeding eastbound on Highway 111 towards Palm Desert when the rider, a 24-year-old man, lost control of the bike and crashed into the center median.
The force of the impact caused the rider to be thrown from the bike and land onto the westbound lanes. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, authorities said.
A 2003 Chevrolet reportedly crashed into the damaged motorcycle. The rider was not hit by any vehicle, authorities said.
Major Injury Involving Motorcycle on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the motorcycle rider lying in the roadway with major injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.
It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
