51-Year-Old Man Killed, Ramon Machado Injured in Willits Car Accident on Highway 101 near Reynolds Highway

Willits, California (January 19, 2019) – One person was killed and another was injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Willits, according to a local news source.
The tragic accident happened at around 4:40 p.m. Friday, January 18 on Highway 101 near Reynolds Highway.
As per the report, a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Ramon Machado, 71, of Legget, was traveling northbound when for an unknown reason it veered into the southbound lane of Highway 101, where it collided head-on with a Mercedes Sprinter van driven by a 51-year-old man.
The 51-year-old man died in the collision. His name has not been released pending identification and notification of family.
Authorities said Machado sustained major injuries and was transported by medical personnel to Howard Memorial Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
