Rachael Dayton Suffers Major Injuries in Redding Pedestrian Accident on State Route 273 near Canyon Road; Sarah Carpenter Arrested
Redding, California (September 13, 2020) – Rachael Dayton, 25, of Redding, was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Redding, according to a local news source.
The major injury collision happened at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, September 12, on State Route 273, just north of Canyon Road.
Authorities said Dayton and her male companion were walking across the roadway outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a Honda Civic that was heading northbound on State Route 273.

Dayton was transported to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries. Her condition remained undisclosed.
The driver of the Honda, Sarah Carpenter, 39, of Redding, stopped at the scene after the crash. She was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Carpenter was eventually arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for felony DUI causing injury.
