Porterville Woman Killed, Lamont Man Seriously Injured in Delano Collision on Highway 65 at Highway 155

Delano, California (June 16, 2021) – A two-car collision has claimed the life of a woman Tuesday afternoon east of Delano and left a man with serious injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deadly crash was reported to the CHP at about 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, on Highway 65 at Highway 155.
According to the CHP, a 52-year-old Lamont man was speeding southbound on Highway 65 when, for an unknown reason, he allowed his gray Honda Accord to drift across the double yellow lines and into the opposite lane.
A 2021 Nissan traveling northbound on Highway 65 swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid the Honda but was not successful. The left front side of the Nissan impacted with the left front of the Honda.
After the collision, the Nissan came to a stop in a dirt field east of the roadway while the Honda stopped facing southbound in the northbound lane.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and extricated the Honda driver from the wreckage. He was then transported to Kern Medical with major injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, only identified as a 31-year-old Porterville woman, was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
