Pickup Driver Killed in Pollock Pines Crash at Pony Express Trail near Gilmore Road
Pollock Pines, California (January 2, 2019) – A pickup driver was killed after a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon in the area of Pollock Pines, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The accident was reported at around 3:09 p.m. Wednesday, at 5649 Pony Express Trail near Gilmore Road.
As per the report, a red pickup truck was driving recklessly on Pony Express Trail when it crossed over the double yellow lines for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into an El Dorado County Transit bus. The pickup truck overturned and blocked the roadway following the collision.
Responding officers confirmed that the pickup driver died as a result of the collision. The victim’s name was not immediately released awaiting notification of next of kin.
Officials said that the bus driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. It remained unclear if the victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
An investigation is underway.
