Plumas County, California (December 7, 2020) – A man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday evening in the Feather River Canyon, Plumas County, authorities said.

The deadly accident happened at about 5:03 p.m., on December 5, on Highway 70, west of Rich Bar Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a tan 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, driven by the man, was heading westbound on the highway when it veered off the roadway to the north and onto an asphalt paved shoulder.

The Chevrolet then went off the paved shoulder and over a drainage ditch, hitting a rocky embankment, the officials said.

Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
