Francisco Lomeli Killed in DUI Car Crash at Claribel and Langworth Roads in Modesto
Francisco Lomeli ID’d as Person Killed in Modesto Accident at Claribel and Langworth Roads

Modesto, California (December 7, 2020) – The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who died in an alleged DUI car accident Saturday night in Modesto as Francisco Diaz Lomeli, 20, of Oakdale.
The deadly accident happened at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday, December 5, at the intersection of Claribel Road and Langworth Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Nicolas Villela IV, 19, was driving a 2012 Nissan sedan westbound on Claribel Road toward Langworth Road at a high rate of speed when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and slammed into a 2019 Chevrolet sedan that was heading northbound on Langworth Road.
Following the collision, the two vehicles slammed into a power pole and stopped at the west corner of the intersection, on the north shoulder of Claribel.

Lomeli, who was in the right-front passenger seat of the Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chevrolet’s driver, Deborah Mendez, 19, of Riverbank, sustained a broken pelvis, fractured rib, and internal injuries following the wreck. She was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment.
Villela and his five passengers suffered minor to major injuries in the crash. All patients were taken to various hospitals for treatment.
Authorities determined that Villela was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. He was booked into the Public Safety Center on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after being medically cleared.
A Go Fund Me page has been created to support Lomeli’s family with their medical and funeral expenses.
The crash remains under investigation.
