Carson Man Dies in Lucerne Valley Crash on State Route 247 and Selmadolph Street
Lucerne Valley, California (April 8, 2021) – A 40-year-old Carson man driving a pickup truck was killed in a head-on collision with a big rig Wednesday night at an intersection in Lucerne Valley, authorities said.
The deadly crash was reported at around 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the intersection of State Route 247 and Selmadolph Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Chevy pickup truck, driven by the Carson man, was heading southbound on State Route 247 when, for unknown reasons, the Chevy drifted into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a double tanker 2020 Peterbilt that was heading northbound.
Due to the impact, the Chevy was totaled while the Peterbilt rolled over and one of the tankers detached from the main cab.
Deadly 2-Vehicle Accident in Lucerne Valley
Emergency personnel responded to the crash and pronounced the driver of the pick-up truck dead at the scene at 7:26 p.m. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
The operator of the Peterbilt, a 47-year-old, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
