Sonoma County, California (May 6, 2021) – A Petaluma motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning in a traffic crash in an unincorporated area of Sonoma County northwest of Petaluma, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly collision occurred at about 10:20 a.m. on Stony Point Road, just north of Roblar Road.

The CHP said an 80-year-old Valley Ford man was driving a Ram Ford pickup truck on Roblar Road when he turned left onto northbound Stony Point ahead of the Petaluma man riding his motorcycle northbound on Stony Point Road.

The Ram then continued to travel for a short distance before making a left turn into the parking lot of a restaurant.

As the motorcyclist approached the Ram, the rider attempted to pass on the left, over double yellow roadway lines. In the process, the motorcyclist crashed into the left side of the Ram. The rider was thrown off the bike upon the impact.

Sadly, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
