Michael Reinert Injured in Fatal Palmdale Car Crash on 50th Street East near Avenue P
Palmdale, California (May 6, 2021) – One of the five people injured in a deadly three-vehicle crash that occurred in Palmdale Thursday morning was identified as Michael Reinert, 52, of Lancaster.
At around 3:50 a.m., according to CHP, Reinert was southbound on 50th Street East in a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into the northbound lanes and sideswiped a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Lurlene Smith, 68, of Palmdale .
The northbound Malibu then collided with a southbound Toyota Yaris that was being driven by Richard Gomez, 32, of Lancaster.
The crash occurred north of Avenue P.
Michael Reinert Injured in Palmdale Car Crash
The accident killed a 66-year-old Palmdale man, who was a passenger in the Malibu.
Smith and two other passengers in her vehicle, were taken to hospital with major injuries.
Gomez also sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Reinert was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The crash is under investigation by the CHP.
