Fresno, California (January 3, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday night traffic accident that killed a pedestrian and left a Good Samaritan seriously injured in Fresno.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at about 10:56 p.m., on January 2, on 41 Freeway at Friant Road off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was struck by two vehicles on the freeway’s northbound lanes in unclear circumstances.

Following the collision, a Good Samaritan pulled over onto the center divider to help the pedestrian but was struck by another vehicle, the officials said.

Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Good Samaritan suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The second crash could have been caused by traffic trying to avoid the first accident, the authorities said.

An investigation into the collision is underway.
