Santa Clara, California (November 6, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Santa Clara, according to authorities.

At about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, the authorities received a report about the accident in the area of Montague Expressway and Mission College Boulevard.

According to the authorities, a 57-year-old man was walking with a woman southbound on the shoulder of Montague Expressway when a southbound white 2017 Honda Accord lost control and struck the man.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and performed CPR on the man. Despite life-saving measures, the victim did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was working as an active ride-share driver when the accident happened, the authorities said.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the collision.
