Paul Palmer Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Camino Del Mar in Del Mar
Paul Palmer ID’d as Victim Killed in Del Mar Car Accident on Camino Del Mar near Torrey Pines Road
San Diego, California (October 30, 2019) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was killed Monday afternoon in a wrong-way collision involving three vehicles in Del Mar as Paul Edward Palmer, 76, of La Jolla.
The deadly accident happened at around 4:02 p.m. Monday, October 28 in the 200 block of Camino Del Mar and Torrey Pines Road.
According to the authorities, Palmer was driving a Honda CRV northbound on Camino Del Mar when he drifted into the southbound side and his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming sedan after sideswiping an SUV.
Paramedics responded to the scene and performed CPR on Palmer. Despite life-saving measures, Palmer did not survive his injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 4:29 p.m.
Two passengers in the sedan, aged 28 and 27, were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with major injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash caused a closure of Camino Del Mar as authorities investigated the accident.
San Diego Sheriff is investigating the accident.
