Patrick Gooch Killed in San Diego Bicycle Accident on State Route 163
Patrick Gooch ID’d as Bicyclist Hit and Killed by Vehicle on State Route 163 near Interstate 5 in San Diego
San Diego, California (April 29, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the bicyclist who died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in San Diego as Patrick Keith Gooch, 55.
The deadly accident happened at around 9:04 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, on State Route 163, just north of Interstate 5.
According to the authorities, Gooch was riding a bicycle and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of State Route 163 when, for unknown reasons, a vehicle hit him.
Gooch was thrown off the bike upon the impact and landed on the roadway.
Deadly Bicycle Accident on State Route 163 in San Diego
Gooch, who was homeless and lived in the San Diego area, was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The involved driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
