Pacific Beach, CA: Motorcyclist Injured in DUI Crash at Grand Avenue and Haines Street

San Diego, California (June 22, 2021) – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following an alleged DUI crash in the Pacific Beach neighbourhood in San Diego Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

The major injury collision occurred just before 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Haines Street.

Authorities said a 25-year-old man was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson two-wheeler westbound on Grand Avenue when a 2000 Toyota Camry that had stopped for a red light at Haines Street pulled out in front of him.

The motorcyclist ultimately struck the Camry on the driver’s side. The rider was thrown off the bike upon the impact.

Motorcyclist Injured in Collision with Car in Pacific Beach

The motorcyclist suffered broken bones, including his right femur, the left humerus and right wrist and was taken to a local hospital. His name and current condition were not available.

Authorities determined that the 26-year-old driver of the Camry was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision. He was eventually arrested on suspicion of DUI.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
