Turlock, California (April 2, 2021) – Orfil Gutierrez, 41, of Chowchilla, was injured last week on Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Turlock, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, on Highway 99, just south of West Monte Vista Avenue.

The CHP said Fernando Balthazar, 20, of Ceres, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet SUV in the fast lane when he made an unsafe turn and his vehicle struck the rear of a trailer pulled by a 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Gutierrez.

As a result of the collision, the pickup rolled over multiple times while the trailer carrying livestock rolled down the embankment.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.
