Orange, California (May 20, 2021) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a suspected DUI driver Wednesday night as he was walking in a crosswalk in Orange, as per a local news source.
39-year-old Sitani Pimoni, of Orange, was arrested following the accident.
The incident happened at about 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Tustin Street and Heim Avenue.
As per the article, a 19-year-old man was attempting to cross Tustin on the north side of the intersection when Pimoni, driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck southbound on Tustin, ran a red light and struck him.
The driver stopped after the crash.
Police determined that Pimoni was under the influence and arrested him.
Authorities said the driver had a prior DUI conviction out of Los Angeles County in 2007.
Pimoni was booked into jail on suspicion of murder, where he was being held on no bail.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
